Before I get into today's post I just wanted to point out and draw your attention to my new banner above! isn't it pretty? It's inspired and made from the pieces I'm sharing with you today.
Hope you like it! I love it :) Onto your regularly scheduled post, hee hee!
These two pieces I am completely enamored with! The first piece I share with you was created as part of my submission to The Artery in hopes of being accepted into my first art gallery... more on that here in a previous post.
These dreamy whimsical birds were created on an 11x14 canvas. Pretty dappled and blended hues of aqua, green, and lapiz lazuli blue make up the background where these two birdies perch on tree twig musical notes. When I made this piece I drew the birds first on vintage sheet music paper which I mentioned in a post last week. I cut them out ever so carefully with a pen knife which left behind a piece of sheet music with two empty bird shaped spaces in the center of my page. Setting it aside while working on this first piece I knew I had to go back to that paper and create more birds out of the empty pages by laying a decorative paper behind and then working paint, ink, colored pencil, and other material goodness.
In doing this I was able to create two similar pieces from one process! cool right!? I so plan on doing this again. The second piece, which I aptly named after the name of the song "Carnival in a Cotton Town" was created around that exact theme. By placing houses in the background and tiny buntings from roof to roof, and also between birds... I feel like it really encompasses the feel of the title. I only wish I knew what the song sounded like!

Beautiful! And you can tell they have a personality too, I love it! The sheet music looks very nice indeed:D

LOVE this pair!! Absolutely sweet and stunning! I bet the cotton town song sounds like summer evening on a country porch swing!
